Validating Email Addresses

This article covers the topic of email validation in myhrtoolkit.

What is a valid email address?

A valid email address needs to be in the form "mailbox@domain". Everything to the right of the @ symbol is your domain name. Everything to the left, is an individual mailbox.

The domain part will usually be the same as your company website (such as myhrtoolkit.com), or that of your email provider, such as outlook.com for Outlook or gmail.com for Google Mail.

The mailbox is your individual mailbox.

The mailbox part can be made up of almost any printable character and this can cause problems.

How does myhrtoolkit validate email addresses?

Currently, we can only accept email addresses with standard Latin characters and numbers.

For most people, this is fine. However, if you have an address with an accented or other special character, we cannot currently accept it. You will receive an error message, even though your address may be technically valid. This is a problem that many web applications encounter and we are working to fix this.

Ensuring your address is correct

You should take care to ensure that the email address you enter is correct. Myhrtoolkit is not able to tell whether or not the address you give us is correct. If you mis-spell the address then the email will not be delivered.
